Sidney Crosby continued the Pittsburgh Penguins' tradition of showing gratitude to season-ticket holders.

The Penguins captain was one of the Pittsburgh players who wrote a note to 66 season-ticket holders who renewed their subscriptions in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Crosby, who is regularly among the players to

to season subscribers, joined others like goalies Matt Murray and Tristan Jarry and defensemen Brian Dumoulin and Chad Ruhwedel to show their appreciation for the fans who remained ticket holders despite rampant economic hardship around the country.

"Chuck, the Pittsburgh Penguins thank you for renewing your season tickets," Crosby's note to one ticket holder said, according to a picture posted to Twitter. "Especially during these trying times, we as players appreciate your support."

According to Pittsburgh's website, the Penguins ticketing department came up with the idea, and the players were happy to help out.

"Our players recognize how important our season-ticket holders are to our success as an organization," Penguins vice president of ticketing Chad Slencak told Pittsburgh's website. "[The players] have been a huge part of our outreach, but their efforts have been especially meaningful over these last four months."

The Penguins will not play a home game in Pittsburgh again this season but are scheduled to continue their Stanley Cup pursuit as the No. 5 seed in the Eastern Conference Qualifiers against the Montreal Canadiens beginning Aug. 1 in Toronto.
