Kraken win in OT for 6th straight victory

LOS ANGELES --Andre Burakovsky scored his second goal of the game 2:08 into overtime, and the Seattle Kraken recovered for a 9-8 win against the Los Angeles Kings at Crypto.com Arena on Tuesday.

Burakovsky won it with a shot from the right face-off circle on a power play off a pass from Jordan Eberle, who tied his NHL career high with four assists.

"I got the puck in a good area, and I'll take that shot from there all day," Burakovsky said. "'Ebs' made a really good play, and it went in."

Matty Beniers and Jared McCann each scored two goals, and Alex Wennberg had a goal and two assists for Seattle (14-5-3), which set a franchise record by extending its winning streak to six games. Martin Jones made 27 saves.

"End of the day, it was one of those games where last shot wins, and that's exactly what happened," Seattle coach Dave Hakstol said. "It's better to be on the winning side and the good side of it than the other, but it's a crazy hockey game."

McCann likened the game, which was the highest scoring in the NHL this season, to both pond and junior hockey.

"It's going to be one of those nights," he said. "Going to be a lot of goals, going to be a lot of offense, so good to get the two points."

Gabriel Vilardi scored twice, and Kevin Fiala had four assists for the Kings (12-9-4), who have lost five of six (1-2-3). Jonathan Quick allowed five goals on 14 shots before being replaced early in the second period by Cal Petersen, who made 12 saves.

"It's a very, very confusing night for all of us," Los Angeles coach Todd McLellan said. "I'm really disappointed that we gave up nine goals, absolutely. But on the other side of the coin, I'm glad that we fought back, got a point, and scored eight. So it's mass confusion right now for all of us, and we better figure it out quickly."

Sean Durzi cut it to 8-7 at 11:36 of the third period when his shot fluttered in off the stick Yanni Gourde, and Mikey Anderson scored his first of the season on a one-timer from the top of the right circle to tie it 8-8 at 13:39.

Anze Kopitar scored 16 seconds into the game to give the Kings a 1-0 lead.

Beniers tied it 1-1 with a power-play goal at 5:21, and McCann put the Kraken in front 2-1 at 8:42 when he chipped in a centering pass from Eberle.

"It wasn't like we were trying to open it up," McCann said. "Just had some weird bounces, had some things open up.

"We opened up offensively, I guess. We didn't really particularly play well defensively. We didn't shut it down in front of 'Jonesy,' and that's on us."

Viktor Arvidsson tied it 2-2 at 9:16 with a deflection of Durzi's point shot on a power play, but Wennberg scored his own power-play goal at 12:55 to restore Seattle to a 3-2 lead.

Vilardi tied it 3-3 at 18:52 with yet another power-play goal, scoring when his shot deflected in off the stick of Carson Soucy.

Beniers gave the Kraken the lead back, 4-3, at 1:31 of the second period. He has 11 points (four goals, seven assists) during a five-game point streak.

Carl Grundstrom quickly tied it 4-4 at 2:48, but McCann chased Quick and put Seattle back in front 5-4 at 4:56.

Adrian Kempe tied it again 5-5 at 6:45 off a pass from below the goal line by Fiala.

"Obviously, weird game tonight," Kempe said. "Not good enough in the D-zone, and the offense was really good. Could have gone either way."

Daniel Sprong responded for the Kraken to make it 6-5 at 7:27. Petersen made the initial blocker save, but the puck deflected up into the air before going in off goalie's right skate.

Oliver Bjorkstrand extended the lead to 7-5 at 9:50.

Vilardi's second goal got the Kings to within 7-6 at 15:41, but Burakovsky made it 8-6 at 19:38 with a wrist shot from the left circle.

"It was a kind of messed up night," Burakovsky said. "We were trading chances, a lot of sloppy plays. I think we played a really bad game, and so did they. We were lucky that they didn't play good at all."
