12.3 Claude Giroux

Claude Giroux said he is not thinking about waiving the no-move clause in his contract and is confident the Philadelphia Flyers can turn their season around.

The forward is in the final season of an eight-year contract and can become an unrestricted free agent after the season. The Flyers (8-9-4) have lost seven straight games.
"I'm not worried about that right now," Giroux said Friday. "I'm just worried about games coming up. We're in a hole right now and thinking about that stuff is not going to help the team get out of this. I've got a lot of confidence in this group."
The Flyers start five games in seven days with back-to-back home games against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday and Colorado Avalanche on Monday. They also play at the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday, and finish with back-to-back games at the Vegas Golden Knights on Dec. 10 and at the Arizona Coyotes on Dec. 11.
"We know in our locker room that we can turn this around," Giroux, the Flyers captain, said. "Next two games coming up here at home, that's going to be huge for us. We're playing good teams. We've got to come out and play hard and give ourselves a chance to win here."

TBL@PHI: Giroux splits the defense before scoring

Philadelphia was off Thursday, practiced Friday and will practice again Saturday as part of
what general manager Chuck Fletcher called
, "a massive week to get our house in order."
That includes fixing an offense that has averaged 1.64 goals per game and is 2-for-36 on the power play (5.6 percent) in the past 11 games.
"Our power play needs to step up," Giroux said. "We've lost multiple games this year because the power play couldn't step up for us. It starts with me, I'm the one who has the puck most of the time on the power play, so I've got to make better plays."
Giroux leads the Flyers with 18 points (seven goals, 11 assists) in 21 games; no other player has more than 14 points.
Philadelphia also has dealt with injuries to key players. Second-line center Kevin Hayes played in a 4-1 loss at the New York Rangers on Wednesday. He had been out six games with an abdominal injury related to surgery he had Sept. 21 that kept him out the first 12 games of the season.
Defenseman Ryan Ellis has missed 17 of 18 games with a lower-body injury and is week to week. Forward Joel Farabee, who is tied with Giroux and forward Cam Atkinson for the Flyers lead with seven goals, is week to week because of a shoulder injury sustained in the first period Wednesday.
Centers Derick Brassard (hip), Patrick Brown (thumb) and Nate Thompson (shoulder) also are out.
"I'd really like to see what we have before we start making changes," Fletcher said Tuesday. "I don't feel like I've been able to see that to this point in time. But we're always looking, I'm talking to teams every day. If there's ways to make us better, we'll look at it."
