somppi

Otto Somppi scored a goal for the ages Sunday.

The Tampa Bay Lightning prospect delivered an incredible backhand lacrosse-style goal for Halifax of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League during the first period of its game against Shawinigan.

Somppi, who was picked by the Lightning in the seventh round (No. 206) of the 2016 NHL Draft, skated behind the net on his backhand, then picked the puck up onto his blade and and swiftly tucked it past Cataractes goalie Lucas Fitzpatrick to put the Mooseheads up 2-0.
It was the second of the Mooseheads' three first-period goals, and Somppi's second goal of the frame. It's also a goal the hockey world will likely be talking about for quite some time.
