Draisaitl, McDavid look to stay hot for Oilers

Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid will each try to extend his point streak to eight games when the Edmonton Oilers again host the Ottawa Senators at Rogers Place (10 p.m. ET; ESPN+, SNOL, TSN5, RDS, NHL.TV). It's the conclusion of a two-game set that opened with an 8-5 win by the Oilers on Sunday, when Draisaitl had an NHL career-high six assists and McDavid scored five points (one goal, four assists). The forwards have picked up where they left off last season, when Draisaitl scored 110 points (43 goals, 67 assists) to lead the NHL and won the Hart Trophy voted as the most valuable player; he has 16 points (six goals, 10 assists) during his point streak. McDavid, who leads the NHL with 22 points (eight goals, 14 assists) in 11 games, has scored 17 points (five goals, 12 assists) during his streak. It's been a rough start to the season for the Senators. They have one win in nine games (1-7-1) and have been outscored 34-12 during a six-game losing streak. --Brian Compton, deputy managing editor

Nail-biters the norm when Jets, Flames meet

If the Calgary Flames and Winnipeg Jets can replicate their two previous games against each other at Bell MTS Place (8 p.m. ET; TSN3, SNW, NHL.TV), be prepared to watch another close one. The Jets opened the season with a 4-3 overtime victory Jan. 14; the Flames responded with a 4-3 shootout win Monday. The play on the ice has been as close as the scores indicate, and it's been the stars on each team leading the way. Jets forward Kyle Connor has been the most dominant player on either team by scoring five points (three goals, two assists) and a shootout goal in the two games. Winnipeg center Mark Scheifele and Calgary forward Johnny Gaudreau have been difference makers as well with two goals each. Goalies Jacob Markstrom of Calgary and Connor Hellebuyck of Winnipeg, the Vezina Trophy winner voted as the top goalie in the NHL last season, represent two of the best at the position. The Flames defeated the Jets in four games in their best-of-5 Stanley Cup Qualifier series last August, so there is no love lost between these Scotia North Division foes. -- Mike Zeisberger, staff writer

Wild-Avalanche, round 3

The Minnesota Wild and Colorado Avalanche play the third of four consecutive games against each other at Ball Arena (8:30 p.m. ET; NBCSN, ALT). They split the first two games at Minnesota with the Avalanche winning 5-1 on Saturday and the Wild winning 4-3 on Jonas Brodin's goal 18 seconds into overtime Sunday. Colorado (6-3-1) and Minnesota (6-4-0) are in a tight race with the St. Louis Blues (6-2-1) and Vegas Golden Knights (5-1-1) at the top of the Honda West Division and these games could prove pivotal later in the season. After the four-game series concludes at Colorado on Thursday, they don't play each other again until March 18 at Colorado. Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon is week to week with a lower-body injury. Dallas Stars at Columbus Blue Jackets, 7 p.m. ET (FS-O, FS-SW, NHL.TV)
Patrik Laine is expected to make his debut for the Blue Jackets, who acquired him and forward Jack Roslovic in a trade from the Winnipeg Jets for center Pierre-Luc Dubois on Jan. 23.
Vancouver Canucks at Montreal Canadiens, 7 p.m. ET (TSN2, RDS, SNP, NHL.TV)
It's the second of a back to back between the teams in Montreal. The Canadiens ended the Canucks' four-game winning streak with a 6-2 victory at Bell Centre on Monday.
Carolina Hurricanes at Chicago Blackhawks, 8 p.m. ET (NBCSCH, FS-CR, NHL.TV)
The Hurricanes seek their fifth straight win led by forwards Vincent Trocheck and Andrei Svechnikov, who has each scored four goals in six games.
Arizona Coyotes at St. Louis Blues, 8 p.m. ET (FS-MW, FS-A, NHL.TV)
The Blues alternated wins and losses in their first four games of the season but are 4-1-0 since and have won three in a row.
Calgary Flames at Winnipeg Jets, 8 p.m. ET (TSN3, SNW, NHL.TV)
The Flames have proven resilient so far this season, going 3-3-0 when trailing after two periods including their 4-3 shootout win against the Jets on Monday when they trailed 2-1 entering the third period.
Minnesota Wild at Colorado Avalanche, 8:30 p.m. ET (NBCSN, ALT)
Avalanche forward Brandon Saad has a four-game point streak (seven points; four goals, three assists), as does Wild forward Jordan Greenway (five points; one goal, four assists).
Anaheim Ducks at Los Angeles Kings, 10 p.m. ET (FS-W, KCOP-13, NHL.TV)
The Ducks will try to end a three-game losing streak, where they've been outscored 13-4.
Ottawa Senators at Edmonton Oilers, 10 p.m. ET (ESPN+, SNOL, TSN5, RDS, NHL.TV)
The Senators have allowed the most goals per game in the NHL (4.89). The Oilers have allowed the third-most on average (3.73).
