Rinne, the 2018 Vezina Trophy winner, was activated from injured reserve Wednesday after missing five games with an undisclosed injury.
Andrei Vasilevskiy, who finished third in Vezina Trophy voting behind Rinne and Connor Hellebuyck (Winnipeg Jets), will start for the Lightning.
Nashville and Tampa Bay have the two highest point totals in the NHL. The Lightning are 7-1-1 in their past nine games and the Predators are 7-2-0 in their past nine.
