Maybe Matt Duchene's new nickname should be "The Matchmaker."
The Colorado Avalanche forward helped teenage fan Jessie Yost confirm her date for her upcoming senior prom by flipping her a puck over the glass during warmups before the game against the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday.

"I can't believe this happened," Yost said. "Matt Duchene is my all-time favorite player, and then to get a puck from him was truly special."

Yost is a senior at Falcon High School in Falcon, Colorado, home of the Falcon Falcons. She brought a sign that said "If I get a puck, he'll go to prom with me," referencing Brandon Thompson, who attended the game at Pepsi Center with her.
Yost said Thompson was likely to go to the April 29 event with her regardless, but getting a puck from Duchene clinched it.
"I think he would've gone to prom with me anyway," Yost said. "This just made it more special."
Avalanche forward Mikko Rantanen also flipped the happy couple a puck, so each left the game with a souvenir and a story to tell.

The only drawback for Yost is that this was her last Avalanche home game for the foreseeable future. She and her family are moving to North Carolina in June.
"We will miss our team a lot," she said. "But we'll be cheering for them from across the country."
