The Kings are 0-4-2 since they defeated the Philadelphia Flyers on Feb. 7 and are coming off a 2-1 loss to the Nashville Predators on Thursday. The six-game losing streak is tied for their longest of the season.
The Panthers, who had a three-game winning streak end with a 4-3 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday, are wrapping up a seven-game homestand and a stretch of 12 out of 13 games at BB&T Center.
Goalie James Reimer started the past four games for the Panthers and coach Bob Boughner said after practice Friday he hadn't decided whether to go with Reimer again or with Roberto Luongo.

Status report

Matheson will miss a second consecutive game; Panthers coach Bob Boughner said he was hoping he would be ready to play against the Colorado Avalanche on Monday. … Walker played 14:29 against Nashville on Thursday in his return after missing two games with an upper-body injury.
