John Tavares and his representatives won't talk to any other teams after meeting in person with the Dallas Stars and Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday, The Athletic and Sportsnet reported.

Tavares, a 27-year-old center who can become an unrestricted free agent July 1, reportedly met with his current team, the New York Islanders, and the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday, and with the Boston Bruins and San Jose Sharks on Tuesday. All the meetings took place in Los Angeles.
TSN and The Athletic had reported that Tavares could talk to two or three other teams on the phone and possibly meet with one or two of them.
The maximum contract Tavares can receive from any team other than the Islanders is seven years. New York can offer him eight years and sign him at any time.
Islanders general manager Lou Lamoriello flew to Los Angeles after the NHL Draft ended Saturday in Dallas. Coach Barry Trotz, hired by the Islanders on June 21 after helping the Washington Capitals win the Stanley Cup this season, reportedly was also part of the contingent that met with Tavares.

Tavares, picked No. 1 at the 2009 NHL Draft, had 84 points (37 goals, 47 assists) this season for the Islanders, who missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs for a second straight season. He has led the Islanders in scoring in seven of his nine NHL seasons and has finished no lower than second. This season, Tavares was second in goals to Anders Lee (40) and in points behind Calder Trophy winner Mathew Barzal (85).
Tavares has 621 points (272 goals, 349 assists) in 669 NHL games, fifth in Islanders history but first of any player who wasn't part of their four consecutive Stanley Cup-winning teams from 1980-83. He has been captain of the Islanders since the start of the 2013-14 season and was a finalist for the Hart Trophy in 2013 and 2015.
