Facts and Figures: Eichel scores twice to push point streak to 15 games

Jack Eichel scored two goals for the Buffalo Sabres in their 4-3 win against the Nashville Predators at KeyBank Center on Thursday to extend his point streak to 15 games, tied for the longest in the NHL this season.

Eichel has 27 points (14 goals, 13 assists) during his streak, which matches Patrick Kane's 15-game streak for the Chicago Blackhawks from Nov. 2-30. Eichel is the 11th United States-born player, fourth in the past decade, with a point streak of at least 15 games.

He's second in the NHL with 22 goals, four behind David Pastrnak of the Boston Bruins.
Eichel's 14 goals during his streak are fifth among players in the first 15 games of a point streak since 1999-2000. Patrik Laine of the Winnipeg Jets in 2017-18 and Jarome Iginla of the Calgary Flames in 2001-02 each scored 18 goals during the first 15 games of their respective point streaks; Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2010-11 scored 17, and Dany Heatley of the Ottawa Senators in 2005-06 and Patrik Elias of the New Jersey Devils in 1999-2000 each scored 15.

The Sabres next play Saturday, against the New York Islanders at Nassau Coliseum (1 p.m. ET; MSG+, MSG-B, NHL.TV).

McDavid, Draisaitl each reach 20 goals

Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl each scored their 20th goal of the season for the Edmonton Oilers in their 6-5 loss against the Minnesota Wild at Xcel Energy Center.
McDavid and Draisaitl are the sixth set of teammates in the past 20 years to each score at least 20 goals prior to their team's 35th game; the Oilers played their 34th game Thursday. It's the first time Oilers teammates have done it since 1988-89 when Jimmy Carson, Jari Kurri and Esa Tikkannen each scored 20 in the Oilers' first 32 games.

The Wild victory extended their home point streak to 11 games, dating to Oct. 20 (8-0-3). The Minnesota record is 13 games (10-0-3) from Dec. 27, 2017 to Feb. 13, 2018.

Panarin gets third hat trick with third team

Artemi Panarin scored two goals in 47 seconds of the third period to complete a hat trick for the New York Rangers in their 6-3 win against the San Jose Sharks at SAP Center.

Russ Courtnall (Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, Minnesota North Stars, Vancouver Canucks) and Eddie Shack (Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins, Los Angeles Kings, Sabres) are the only players to have each of his first four NHL hat tricks come with four different teams.
Panarin, who agreed to a seven-year, $81.5 million contract ($11.6 million average annual value) with the Rangers on July 1, also had an assist and leads the Rangers and is eighth in the NHL with 41 points (18 goals, 23 assists). He's one four players in their first season with the Rangers to reach 40 points in 31 games or fewer, joining Marian Gaborik (29 games, 2009-10), Mark Messier (30 games, 1991-92) and Wayne Gretzky (31 games, 1996-97).

Young players shine for Penguins, Red Wings, Canucks

Tristan Jarry made 17 saves for the Pittsburgh Penguins in their 1-0 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets at PPG Paints Arena, giving the 24-year-old goalie his third shutout in four games; he made 28 saves in a 3-0 win against the St. Louis Blues on Dec. 4 and 33 saves in a 2-0 win against the Arizona Coyotes on Dec. 6. He's the second Penguins goalie with three shutouts in four games since Marc-Andre Fleury from Oct. 25-Nov. 1, 2014.
Forward Filip Zadina had a goal and two assists to help the Detroit Red Wings end their 12-game winless streak (0-10-2) with a 5-2 win against the Winnipeg Jets. It was Zadina's first three-point NHL game, and at age 20 years, 15 days, Zadina is the third-youngest Red Wings player in the expansion era (since 1967-68) to have his first three-point game, after Steve Yzerman (18 years, 226 days on Dec. 21, 1983) and Lane Lambert (19 years, 75 days on Feb. 1, 1984).

Elias Pettersson scored 40 seconds into overtime to give the Canucks a 1-0 win against the Carolina Hurricanes at Rogers Arena. It was Pettersson's 100th NHL point (41 goals, 59 assists) in his 102nd game. Among players to begin their NHL careers with the Canucks, the only player to reach 100 NHL points faster was Pavel Bure, who did it in 96 games.
