Jack Campbell earned his first career shutout on October 11 in a 3-0 win against the Montreal Canadiens. Campbell has done a great job of filling in for injured starter Jonathan Quick over the past three games.
In the three games since Quick went down with a
hamstring injury
, Campbell has posted an incredible .966 save percentage and 1.35 goals-against average while leading the Kings to their first two wins of the season.

After being drafted 11th overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft to the Dallas Stars, Campbell has had a tumultuous journey to get to be where he is now, the LA Kings backup goalie.
After working with Kings Goaltending Coach Bill Ranford and Goaltender Development Coach Dusty Imoo, Campbell's confidence has grown and his play has flourished as a result.

The last time he was in the Montreal barn, he had just been drafted and it was his first game as part of a professional team, only he was a healthy scratch.
To come back to the same building eight years later and earn his first career shutout, was a special full-circle moment.
Backing up Campbell that night was Peter Budaj, who offered some sound advice after the game. "Take your time," Budaj said to Campbell. "Enjoy it. You've earned it. You get your first shutout only once."

Campbell was rock-solid in net, and it didn't go unnoticed by Head Coach John Stevens. "I thought he was really seeing the puck well. He was really tracking it well. He really kind of stabilizes your team, especially on the road when a team like Montreal comes hard. He was terrific tonight," Stevens said to

.
Though, the shutout was almost jeopardized in a bizarre series of goaltender interference calls.
"It was kind of a weird play, it is what it is," Campbell said. "It was nice that the guy said no goal. I'll take it."

"Jack's got ability, but he's got a really good attitude and he's got a great work ethic," Stevens said.
"He's been all ears trying to get better. If you work that hard, you're going to get better, and I think he's really worked hard at his game to be ready for an opportunity like this."

Campbell, who is affectionately know as "Soupy" by his teammates, is popular in the locker room. Jeff Carter expressed sentiments that all the players were feeling proud of their goalie and happy for his personal milestone.
"On the backside we're real confident when Soup's in net and he showed, three games now that he's played, he's shown everyone he's capable of doing it," Carter said to

.
"It was a big night for him. Real happy for him."

In summary? Everyone loves Jack.
