ON THE ICE

The Kings enter the 2023-24 season looking to take the next step towards a third Stanley Cup, coming off playoff appearances in each of the last two seasons. The 2022-23 regular season was one of the best in franchise history, as the Kings tallied 104 points, one shy of a franchise record. The Kings bolstered their roster this offseason with the marquee acquisition of center Pierre-Luc Dubois. Led on and off the ice by captain and two-time Stanley Cup champion Anze Kopitar, the Kings have a deeply talented roster, with top-end talent and depth throughout the lineup. Combining speed, skill, structure and tenacity, the Kings are expected to be a tough team to match-up against for 60 minutes. Coming off of a season where the Kings ranked in the top-10 in goals per game (10th) and power play percentage (4th), the offense will look to pick up where it left off. Defensively, the Kings were a top-five team in terms of goals allowed in the 2023 portion of last season and will look to continue that momentum into a new season. An exciting season lies ahead for the franchise!

Drew Doughty

Kings assistant captain Drew Doughty enters his 16th NHL season with 1,095 regular-season games of experience and 619 career points (141-478=619). Doughty, who was drafted by the Kings with the second-overall pick in the 2008 NHL Draft, is the franchise’s all-time leader among defensemen in games played, assists, points and power-play goals. Having played his whole career with the Kings, Doughty is a two-time Stanley Cup champion (2012, 2014), won the Norris Trophy as the league’s best defenseman in the 2015-16 season, has been selected to four All-Star Games and was named as one of the two defensemen to make the 2010’s All-Decade Team (2010-19).

Pierre-Luc Dubois

The 2023-24 season will be the first for Pierre-Luc Dubois as a member of the Kings organization. Dubois was acquired this offseason from the Winnipeg Jets and immediately signed an eight-year contract with the Kings. Dubois is a former third-overall selection, in the 2016 NHL Draft, and was traded from the Jets to the Kings in exchange for three players and a second-round draft pick. Dubois brings a unique combination of skill and size to the Kings and is one of eight players in the NHL with 250+ points and 250+ penalty minutes over the last five seasons combined. The 6-3 center has recorded 302 points (129-173=302) in 434 career games at the NHL level.
