Flames Stars to play Game 7

The Calgary Flames and Dallas Stars will play Game 7 of the Western Conference First Round at Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary on Sunday (9:30 ET; ESPN2, SN, TVAS, BSSW).

The winner will advance to the second round and play the Edmonton Oilers, who defeated the Los Angeles Kings 2-0 in Game 7 of their first-round series Saturday.
"I know we're not supposed to still be playing, we're supposed to be on a golf vacation right now, but that wasn't our intention going in," Dallas coach Rick Bowness said. "As I said right off the bat, we didn't get into the playoffs to be somebody else's steppingstone in the second round. Here we are going into a Game 7, and our guys deserve a lot of credit."
The Stars defeated the Flames 4-2 in Game 6 on Friday to tie the series.
"It was a heck]*

"It's hard to win the last one," Flames forward Elias Lindholm said. "A lot of us haven't been past the first round, and it's something we've got to hopefully get done on Sunday. We've been a good team all year, we've got a lot of talent, a lot of character, and one of the best goalies in the League, and we have home ice."
Dallas is 6-8 in Game 7s, including 3-5 on the road. It has played in a Game 7 in each of its past two postseason appearances, defeating the Colorado Avalanche 5-4 in overtime in the second round in 2020, and losing 2-1 in the second overtime to the St. Louis Blues in the second round in 2019.
Forward Joe Pavelski has played in eight Game 7s (6-2), getting six points (three goals, three assists). Center Tyler Seguin has played in six (4-2), getting one goal and one assist.
Goalie Jake Oettinger has not played in a Game 7, and Bowness is 2-0.
"Yeah, we have a confident group," Pavelski said. "You know what? It's been a tight series, all the games have been tight, competitive, fun to play in, so yeah, I mean, we're a group, we expect to go in and win, and I'm sure they do, too. We expect the game to be similar as the first six."
It will be the fifth of five Game 7s this weekend. In addition to Kings-Oilers, there were two winner-take-all games in the Eastern Conference First Round on Saturday, when the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Bruins 3-2, and the Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 2-1. The New York Rangers will host the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 7 of the Eastern first round Sunday (7 p.m. ET; TBS, SN360, SNE, SNO, SNP, MSG, ATTSN-PT).
It is the second most Game 7s in a Stanley Cup Playoff round; there were six in the 1992 Division Semifinals.
