Carter Hart made 20 saves for the Philadelphia Flyers in a 3-2 victory against the Detroit Red Wings at Wells Fargo Center on Tuesday to become the youngest goalie in their history (20 years, 127 days) to win his NHL debut. He's also the youngest NHL goalie to win his first start since Carey Price for the Montreal Canadiens (20 years, 55 days) on Oct. 10, 2007.

The only other goalie in Flyers history to play a game before age 21 was Maxime Ouellet, who made his NHL debut in relief of Brian Boucher on Oct. 7, 2000 (19 years, 112 days), then made his first NHL start five days later against the Dallas Stars (19 years, 117 days).
Hart is the fifth-youngest goalie since 1996-97 to win his first NHL start. The youngest goalie in NHL history to win his first start was John Vanbiesbrouck of the New York Rangers (18 years, 92 days) against the Colorado Rockies on Dec. 5, 1981. Tom Barrasso of the Buffalo Sabres (18 years, 188 days) against the Hartford Whalers on Oct. 5, 1983, is the only other NHL goalie to do so before age 19.
Hart's performance helped new coach Scott Gordon get a win in his first game after replacing Dave Hakstol on Monday. It was Gordon's first game as an NHL coach since Nov. 13, 2010 with the New York Islanders, and his first win since Oct. 21, 2010.
