Ottawa Senators defenseman Erik Karlsson gave Brad Paisley fans a huge surprise when he joined the country music star on stage at RBC Ottawa Bluesfest on Wednesday.

Karlsson walked out as Paisley was starting to perform "Country Nation," a song about college football. The crowd erupted when it saw him.

Realizing where he was, Paisley said he would adjust the song, which mentions college football nicknames like the Mountaineers, Volunteers and Seminoles, to include some hockey teams. He rolled through a few Canadian teams that drew boos from the audience and a thumbs down from Karlsson. But when Paisley mentioned the Senators, the crowd went wild again.

It was a quick appearance, but Paisley gave Karlsson a shoutout on Twitter.

Karlsson also shared his own video from the stage.
