Hartman, Fiala each scores twice, Wild defeat Oilers

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Kevin Fiala and Ryan Hartman each scored two goals for the Minnesota Wild in a 5-1 win against the Edmonton Oilers at Xcel Energy Center on Tuesday.

Cam Talbot made 27 saves, and Kirill Kaprizov had two assists for Minnesota (45-21-6), which has won two straight and is 11-1-2 in its past 14 games.
The Wild remained tied for second in the Central Division with the St. Louis Blues, who defeated the Boston Bruins 4-2 on Tuesday.
"We were happy with the way we played," Minnesota coach Dean Evason said. "… We talked before the game that we shouldn't have to talk about our start. We should just be playing. We should just play like we play. That's what we did and that's how we play. That's when we have success. We're in on pucks, we're dislodging, we're having good sticks and we're getting opportunities because of it, and not only in the offensive zone, but in the defensive zone, too. We exited real well. They had a couple of sustained shifts, but for the most part we did a lot of real good things."
Leon Draisaitl scored his NHL career-high 51st goal for the Oilers (42-26-6), who have lost two in a row (0-1-1). Mikko Koskinen made 18 saves.
"Today wasn't our finest hour," Edmonton coach Jay Woodcroft said. "We didn't come away with any points in a tough building. We can play better."

Frederick Gaudreau gave the Wild a 1-0 lead at 5:37 of the first period. Duncan Keith's attempt to work the puck off the back boards resulted in a giveaway to Gaudreau, who skated in alone and waited out Koskinen before shooting into an open net.
Fiala increased the lead 2-0 at 3:01 of the second period, taking a pass from Matt Boldy as he was cutting across the slot from the right circle.
"It was right in the slot, and [Boldy] could have shot it. He gave it back to me," Fiala said. "It's just the chemistry of all three of us (Gaudreau). I feel like it just fits."
Fiala scored again to make it 3-0 at 9:40, beating Koskinen from a sharp angle below the left circle following another giveaway by the Oilers.
"We thought we were the authors of a lot of the chances against," Woodcroft said. "Just with our breakout execution, our net play, we can be better."

Hartman pushed it to 4-0 at 13:12. Kaprizov won a battle along the boards and passed to Hartman, who turned up from along the goal line and scored off the glove of Koskinen.
Hartman then made it 5-0 at 3:22 of the third period on a rebound in front. He has scored 29 goals this season after scoring 28 in the previous three seasons combined.
Draisaitl made it 5-1 at 5:39 with a power-play goal from the right circle. It was his 21st goal on the man-advantage, passing Ryan Smyth (1996-97) and Wayne Gretzky (1983-84) for the most in Edmonton history.
Minnesota went 3-0-0 against the Oilers this season, outscoring them 16-5.
"I don't think we've played our best in any of the games we've played them," Edmonton forward Zach Hyman said. "We had trouble breaking out, and that's not just on the D, that's the whole group coming back supporting each other. We didn't execute."

NOTES: Keith was minus-4. … Wild forward Jordan Greenway left during the first period with an upper-body injury. Evason said he will not travel on the upcoming two-game road trip. … Minnesota extended its home point streak to 10 games (9-0-1). … Talbot is 10-0-2 with a 2.23 goals against average, .922 save percentage and one shutout in his past 12 starts. … Kaprizov extended his point streak to four games (three goals, three assists).
