Jonas Johansson signed a one-year contract with the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The 25-year-old rookie goalie was 5-6-2 with a 2.86 goals-against average, .897 save percentage and one shutout in 15 games (13 starts) with the Avalanche and Buffalo Sabres last season. He could have become an unrestricted free agent July 28.
Johansson was 5-1-1 with a 2.06 GAA, .913 save percentage and one shutout in eight games (seven starts) after he was traded to Colorado on March 21 and did not appear in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Colorado lost to the Vegas Golden Knights in six games in the Stanley Cup Second Round.
Selected by Buffalo in the third round (No. 61) of the 2014 NHL Draft, Johansson is 6-9-3 with a 2.89 GAA, .896 save percentage and one shutout in 21 regular-season games (18 starts).
With backup goalie Pavel Francouz missing the season because of a lower-body injury, Colorado also acquired goalie Devan Dubnyk in a trade with the San Jose Sharks on April 10. Dubnyk, who can become an unrestricted free agent, was 6-11-2 with a 3.20 GAA, .895 save percentage and one shutout in 22 games (18 starts) this season, including 3-2-0 with a 3.26 GAA and .886 save percentage in five starts with Colorado.
Philipp Grubauer was 30-9-1 with a 1.95 GAA, .922 save percentage and seven shutouts in 40 games (39 starts) and is a finalist for the Vezina Trophy, awarded to the top goalie in the NHL. He played every minute for the Avalanche in the playoffs, going 6-4 with a 2.61 GAA and .914 save percentage.
