Blackhawks team scope

The Chicago Blackhawks, who are making their final regular-season trip to Joe Louis Arena, are one point behind the Minnesota Wild for first place in the Central Division and Western Conference. The Blackhawks' seven-game winning streak ended with a 1-0 loss to the Anaheim Ducks at United Center on Thursday, but they have a franchise-record eight-game road winning streak, during which they've outscored their opponents 38-19. They had 43 shots on goal against the Ducks but were unable to score. "We did a lot of good things [but] not scoring," coach Joel Quenneville said. "I thought our shots, either our selection or our net-front presence, was a little off. We had good looks but no finish." Forward Tomas Jurco will face the Detroit Red Wings for the first time since being traded to the Blackhawks on Feb. 24. Jurco spent parts of the past six seasons with the Red Wings.

Red Wings team scope

Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard will start for the first time since injuring his right knee Dec. 20 against the Tampa Bay Lightning. "It's been a long and grinding road but I'm excited to be back," he said. "I just want to get back out there and help the team play the way it is capable of playing." To make room for Howard, the Red Wings sent goaltender Jared Coreau to Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League. Forward Anthony Mantha, who is tied for third on the Red Wings in goals (14) and is third in points (33), will be a healthy scratch. "This is part of the development process for a young player," coach Jeff Blashill said. "Anthony is going to be a great player in this League, but we have to keep his performance arrow going up and it hasn't been there in the last four games."
