Winnipeg Jets defenseman Dustin Byfuglien will return after missing two games with a lower-body injury. Byfuglien said the injury had been lingering since training camp and he needed some rest to let it heal. Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck will make his third straight start. He's 2-0-0 this season with a 2.59 goals-against average and .927 save percentage.

Hurricanes forward Sebastian Aho has two assists in two games. Aho had 49 points (24 goals, 25 assists) in 82 games during his rookie season in 2016-17.
Jets forward Nikolaj Ehlers has five points (four goals, one assist) in his first four games this season, including a hat trick in a 5-2 win at the Edmonton Oilers on Monday.

The Hurricanes placed van Riemsdyk on injured reserve Saturday and recalled Carrick from Charlotte of the American Hockey League. A fourth-round pick (No. 115) in the 2012 NHL Draft, Carrick, 23, had two assists in three AHL games this season. He is not expected to dress. … Lowry didn't participate in the morning skate Saturday and is day to day.
