Boston Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara joined his teammates for the morning skate at Warrior Ice Arena but will not play. Chara will miss his fifth straight game with a lower-body injury he sustained against the St. Louis Blues on Nov. 22. "He's out there skating but not playing tonight," coach Claude Julien said. The Bruins are 1-2-1 since Chara left the lineup. They'll also be without defenseman John-Michael Liles for a second straight game because of a concussion sustained against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Nov. 27. Without the two defensemen, the Bruins outshot the Philadelphia Flyers 47-21 in a 3-2 shootout loss Tuesday; the 47 shots on goal were a season high, and the 21 shots on goal allowed were the third-fewest in a game. The Bruins have allowed eight goals in four games without Chara. "It's been a team effort. Simplifying everything and not worrying about it," defenseman Torey Krug said about the key to success when missing two veteran defensemen. "Obviously, we have a huge void with [Chara] out of the lineup, but we've shown that we can get the job done."
