5️⃣ Things To Know For Tonight's Game

  1. The LA Kings begin a seven-game homestand tonight at Crypto.com Arena, after returning to Los Angeles with three wins and six points from a five-game roadtrip. The Kings had one seven-game homestand last season, posting a record of 5-1-1.
  2. Goaltender Darcy Kuemper is expected to get the start tonight against Ottawa, coming off a 3-0-0 performance on the recent trip. Kuemper earned victories over the Capitals, Islanders and Rangers, posting a .931 save percentage and a 2.31 goals-against average. Kuemper's three-game winning streak is his first since November 4 - 11 of last season.
  3. Just three players in the NHL have more points against Ottawa over the last five seasons than Kings forward Artemi Panarin, who has totaled 22 (9-13-22) in 14 games played in that span. Panarin led the Kings in goals (4) and points (7) on their recent roadtrip, which tied the Russian winger for second in the NHL in goals in that span and tied for fourth in points.
  4. The Kings enter tonight's game in need of a boost on special teams. The power play is currently on a stretch with just two goals in their last 18 attempts, ranking 25th in the NHL for the season as a whole. The Kings rank 32nd in the league on the penalty kill this season, after allowing a goal in four of the five games on the trip. A big area for improvement on the current homestand.
  5. The Kings were without five skaters in Tuesday's loss to Chicago. Defenseman Drew Doughty and Corey Perry are the two to watch for. Both players missed only the one game, after playing the night before in New York, and could be options this evening versus the Senators.
