5️⃣ Things To Know For Tonight's Game

  1. The LA Kings are 2-0-0 to begin their current five-game roadtrip. The Kings have defeated the Capitals (5-2) and the Islanders (3-2, OT) for their first two victories of the season, with a chance to secure a winning trip this afternoon in Newark.
  2. The Kings got two more goals from forward Artemi Panarin, who became the first member of the Kings organization since Luc Robitaille in 1999 to score goals in five consecutive road games to begin a season. Panarin now has six goals in eight games overall and his 0.75 goals-per-game ranks eighth among all NHL skaters with at least five games played this season.
  3. Panarin collected three points (1-2-3) in his only game played against the Devils as a member of the Kings, a 6-4 defeat in Newark back in March. Panarin has 48 points (16-32-48) in 38 career games played against New Jersey, his highest assist total against any opponent in the NHL.
  4. The Kings earned their first 3-on-3 win of the season on Thursday, as defenseman Brandt Clarke scored his second career overtime game-winning goal. Los Angeles controlled the bulk of the possession in overtime, resulting in Clarke's goal, on an assist from forward Adrian Kempe, who extended his point streak to three games.
  5. Forward Quinton Byfield missed Thursday's win over the Islanders with an upper-body injury and is questionable for today's game versus New Jersey. Byfield is currently being assessed on a day-to-day basis. Without a morning skate, we likely won't know his availability until closer to game time today in Newark.

Kings - Alex Laferriere: With the primary assist on Panarin's first goal on Thursday, Laferriere extended his scoring streak to three games, with four points (1-3-4) in total over that span. Laferriere has hit the scoresheet in every game he's skated on the top forward line and will play in his home state of New Jersey tonight.

Devils - Nico Hischier: New Jersey captain Nico Hischier led all Devils skaters last season with five points (2-3-5) in two games played against the Kings. Hischier is tied for his team lead with five goals so far this season and has seven total points (5-2-7) in ten games played.
