The Kings picked up right where they left come Monday night, beating the Sabres 5-2 in convincing fashion. Following up on a 6-0 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday night, the Kings scored the game's first five goals to give them a season-best 11 straight goals.
The game went scoreless for the first 20 minutes, but offense was a plenty in the second period. The scoring began when Adrian Kempe scored his fifth straight goal for the Kings with 10:40 to go into the period. Kempe's tally also came shorthanded, his eighth career goal when down a man. Doubling the Kings lead was Arthur Kaliyev, who netted his 10th goal of the season and eighth on the power play just three minutes after the Kempe goal. Despite time of possession being in the Sabres favor in the second period, it was the Kings that added two more goals in the middle stanza. Scoring twice late, just 33 seconds apart, Sean Walker and Matt Roy each found the back of the net before period's end.
The Kings would add a fifth goal against Craig Anderson and the Sabres with their second power play tally 5:14 into the third period on a fluky and fortuitous bounce. It was Viktor Arvidsson adding to his eventual three-point night, banging in the loose puck in the crease. Late in the period the Kings surrendered two goals, ending Pheonix Copley's shutout streak at 110:16
Copley lstopped 27-of-29 shots for his 17th victory of the season, establishing a new career high for wins in a season.
