COMRIE'S NIGHT
Eric Comrie gets his first start of the 21-22 season this evening against the Los Angeles Kings. This is Comrie's first season as the backup goaltender for the Jets and the timing couldn't be better. Usually, a backup gets the second game of a back-to-back scenario. This time Comrie skated yesterday in Anaheim, the morning skate in Los Angeles which turns out to be a normal routine. This is the third time Comrie is facing the Kings in his career, he is 1-1 and an .897 save percentage in his first two starts.
"I'm just excited to get out there and show what I can do. I've been good in practices," said Comrie on Wednesday.
"Everything is going well and just have to go out there and hopefully have the hard work pay off."

EHLERS GETS ON THE BOARD
Nothing like waiting until there was 1:20 left in the sixth game of the season to score your first goal of the campaign. Nikolaj Ehlers had built up enough karma to score not once but twice in a 19 second span on Tuesday night to record his first and second goals of the season and help the Jets to a 3-2 stunning win over the Anaheim Ducks. Ehlers scored on his 24th and 25th shots of the season to give Jets 2.0 their first win when trailing in the final two minutes of the game. Ehlers is really clicking on a line with Andrew Copp and Paul Stastny.
COPP CLICKING
Andrew Copp is really flourishing in the Jets top six forward group in many ways with eight points (4G 4A) in six games. Outside of the point production though, he has been excellent in the face-off dot winning 56.2% of his draws. Copp won the two face-offs that lead to the tying and game winning goals on Tuesday night and took 28 of them in total. Those 28 face-offs were 10 more than the next closest Jet, Adam Lowry.
PK TURNING A CORNER
First it was the power play now it looks like the Jets penalty kill has turned a corner. Winnipeg shut down the leagues fourth ranked power play on Tuesday night, going 3-for-3 while shorthanded against the Ducks.
KINGS INJURIES
The Kings already lost top prospect Quinton Byfield to a season ending injury in the pre-season now they will go the next eight weeks without their best defenceman, Drew Doughty (knee contusion) plus they lost Sean Walker (torn knee ligaments) for the rest of the year as well. Their right side has been decimated. So, in comes young d-men Austin Strand (who played Monday) and Kale Clague was recalled yesterday and will play tonight against the Jets.
