WINNIPEG - Dustin Byfuglien may have scored the overtime winner in Friday's 4-3 come from behind victory over the Calgary Flames on Friday night, but the game doesn't get to that point without some great work by Seth Griffith.

The 25-year-old sent a quick feed to Bryan Little with just over a minute left in the third period to tie things up on the power play. The first year Jet's strong play paid off as Griffith got the call to head out in the late stages of the third period.
"I've been an offensive guy my whole life," said Griffith who had 14:19 of ice time against the Flames. "I love situations like that, coming down to the wire when you got to make a play. It was good to contribute tonight."
Griffith signed a one-year, two-way deal in the summer with the Jets. He played 21 games with the Buffalo Sabres in 2017-18 and 46 more with the Sabres AHL affiliate Rochester Americans. While the depth is immense on the Jets roster, Griffith is excited for the opportunity.
"It's just an overall great organization (the Jets)," said Griffith who personally knows Mark Scheifele and Joe Morrow. "That was my first thought - I wanted to go to a good organization and they had such a successful year last year. It was a pretty tough year with Buffalo, we obviously didn't have a great year. I just wanted a fresh start with an organization that's done well in the past."
Friday night's game marked the third consecutive start for Griffith, the only member of the Jets who has appeared in all three preseason contests. The Ontario native has a couple of helpers so far and has caught the eye of Jets head coach Paul Maurice.
"So exhibition hockey is so unstructured and sloppy," said Maurice. "You've got a guy who knows how to read through that is usually a pretty smart guy. I've liked the way he's played, I've liked the way he's moved. He's got a good set of hands, a real nice pass at the end (of the game). He's good, he's made a real positive impression."
