June 9, 2021 -The New York Islanders beat the Boston Bruins 6-2 at home in Game 6 of their Second Round series, advancing to the Stanley Cup Semifinals while eliminating the Bruins.
Brock Nelson (2G), Josh Bailey (2A), and Jean-Gabriel Pageau (2A) led the Isles offensively, while Semyon Varlamov made 23 saves in goal.

Travis Zajac scored in the first period giving the Islanders the lead. After the Bruins were able to tie the score 1-1, Nelson scored two goals, the first with a wrist shot from the slot during the second period and the second on a backhand shot during the third period, sending Nassau Coliseum into a frenzy.

The Isles were leading 3-1 when Kyle Palmieri stole the puck from Matt Grzelcyk in front of the net and shot past Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask to give the Islanders a 4-1 lead. The Bruins' Brad Marchand scored on a power play making the score 4-2 at 5:38 of the third period. With under one minute remaining, Cal Clutterbuck and Ryan Pulock each scored goals, ending the game with a score of 6-2.
The series win marked the second time in as many seasons that the Islanders advanced to the third round of the playoffs.
