Robin Lehner was
named the NHL's third star of the week
on Monday, a well-deserved honor for the Islanders goalie who went 3-0-0 with a 1.99 goals-against average and a .935 save percentage.
"When the team does good, individual success happens also. I'm just happy we're winning right now to be honest," Lehner said. "It's nice, sure it is, but every win right now feels incredible, we just have to keep winning."

Lehner, who has won a career-high seven straight games - the fourth Isles goalie in franchise history to do so - said his defense played a vital role in his league honor. As a team, the Islanders have allowed the fewest goals (104, excluding shootout winners) in the NHL.
"I don't think they get enough credit," Lehner said. "They've been playing incredible. They really do everything they can back there. A lot of credit to them."

While Lehner was deflecting praise, his teammates were heaping it on. The Islanders know first-hand how good Lehner - and Thomas Greiss - has been this season, so they were glad to see the NHL take notice.
"It's] well-deserved," Head Coach Barry Trotz said. "Obviously Robin has been really good for us the last while, especially last week and especially in St. Louis… That says a lot about his week and usually the guys that get league-wide recognition, their teams are doing well because they are doing well."

Lehner's three wins last week led all NHL goalies. He stopped 39 shots in an emotional return to Buffalo on Monday, was solid against the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday and held the fort long enough for the Isles to find their game in Saturday's 4-3 comeback win over St. Louis.
"He's been unbelievable this last stretch," captain Anders Lee said. "He's been one of the biggest reasons we've gone on this run. You can see the confidence he has back there, he's kicking out all the pucks and we've made plenty of mistakes in front of him and he's backed us up. It's a huge honor for him, he should be proud and we're proud of him and we'd love to see him keep doing it."
