The New York Islanders have recalled defenseman Sebastian Aho from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League.
Aho, 21, has 20 points (9 goals, 11 assists) in 29 games this season as a rookie with the Sound Tigers. The Umea, Sweden native leads all Sound Tigers defensemen in goals and ranks third on the team in points. This marks the first NHL call-up of Aho's career.

The Islanders selected Aho with the 139th-overall pick in the 2017 National Hockey League Draft. Last season, he led all Skelleftea AIK defenseman in goals (10), assists (20) and points (30) during his fourth full season in the Swedish Hockey League. Aho's 30 points were good for third among SHL defensemen.
Internationally, Aho represented Sweden at the 2014 Under-18 World Junior Championships (Finland) and the 2015 Under-20 World Junior Championships (Toronto & Montreal). In 2014, he was named a WJC Top 3 Player on the Team as voted by the tournament coaches.
