The Canadian junior playoffs are underway and all three Islanders prospects have at least a point in the opening games. In Russia, Ilya Sorokin has advanced to the KHL Western Conference final, while Nick Pastujov has advanced to the Frozen Four in the NCAA D1 Hockey Tournament.

Bellows' multi-point effort in game two was key in tying the series and earned the Islanders' 2016 first-rounder the WHL's third star of the night on Sunday.
Game three is on Wednesday, Mar. 28 at Spokane.


QUENNEVILLE AND MEDICINE HAT UP 2-0 VS BRANDON:

David Quenneville and the Medicine Hat Tigers pounced on the Brandon Wheat Kings to start their first round playoff series, outscoring Brandon 14-5 to take a 2-0 series lead.
The Tigers downed the Wheat Kings 7-2 in game one of the series and followed up with a 7-3 victory in game two, where Quenneville recorded his first goal and first assist of the postseason. The series shifts to Brandon for game three on Tuesday, Mar. 27.

Before the playoffs, Quenneville was named to the first All-Star team for the Eastern Conference in the WHL on Wednesday. Quenneville is the only WHL All-Star from the Medicine Hat Tigers this season.
The Islanders' 2016 seventh-round pick led WHL defensemen in scoring with 80 points (26G, 54A) in 70 games - all career highs.


DURANDEAU WITH THREE POINTS, HALIFAX UP 2-0:

Arnaud Durandeau and the Halifax Mooseheads are off to a dominant start in round one of the QMJHL's President's Cup playoffs, leading the Baie-Comeau Drakkar 2-0.
Durandeau started off his postseason with a bang, scoring a goal and an assist in the Mooseheads' 5-2 win over Baie-Comeau in game one. Game two brought a second victory for Halifax, with a final of 5-3 and a helper recorded by Durandeau. Game three will be on Tuesday, Mar. 27, the first road game of the series for Halifax.

ILYA SOROKIN ADVANCES TO KHL CONFERENCE FINALS:

Ilya Sorokin and CSKA advance to the KHL Western Conferece Finals after beating Jokerit in six games in the second round of the playoffs.
After posting back-to-back shutouts in games one and two of the series, Sorokin faced some pushback from the Finnish club. Jokerit won game three 2-1, which was Sorokin and CSKA's first loss of the postseason, but the Isles goalie prospect responded with a 2-1 win in game four.

While, game five brought another 2-1 overtime loss for CSKA, the contest earned Sorokin a place in KHL history with the longest game ever played, a total of 142:09-15:55 longer than previous record.
CSKA put the series away with a 4-3 win in game six, but Sorokin was pulled after allowing two goals in the first period.
Nevertheless, the Isles 2014 third-rounder advances to the next round, where he'll face off against SKA Saint Petersburg starting on Thursday. CSKA went 0-2-0 against SKA this season.

PASTUJOV TO FROZEN FOUR:

Nick Pastujov and the Michigan Wolverines have advanced to the Frozen Four at the NCAA Division I Men's Hockey Tournament.
Michigan beat Northeastern 3-2 in the Northeastern Regional semis on Saturday and followed it up with a 6-3 win over Boston University in Sunday's regional final. Pastujov, the Islanders' 2016 seventh-round pick, scored Michigan's sixth goal on Sunday, his first goal and point in the tournament.

Michigan will take on Notre Dame on April 5 at 9:30 p.m. at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Pastujov is the last remaining Islanders prospect in the tournament. Logan Cockerill (BU) was eliminated by Michigan in the Northeastern Regional Final on Sunday, while Ben Mirageas (Providence) was eliminated by Notre Dame in the East Regional Final on Saturday. Cockerill finished the tournament with one goal - an empty-netter - in BU's 3-1 semifinal win over Cornell. Mirageas did not record a point in Providence's two games.
