William Dufour and the Drummondville Voltigeurs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League are nearing a return to action after having to suspend play for Quebec-based divisions due to COVID-19 outbreaks.
The Isles 2020 ' fifth-round pick (152nd overall) and the Voltiguers have been sidelined since Oct. 25. Prior to the suspension of the QMJHL, Dufour had posted three assists in two games.
Originally, Dufour and Drummondville were scheduled to get back on the ice to play Val d'Or on Nov. 6, but that timeline was pushed back due to positive COVID-19 test results among the Voltiguers' internal squad.
Following a two-week isolation period, Drummondville returned to practice on Nov. 4 at Marcel-Dionne Center.
On Nov. 8, the
QMJHL announced a 'protected environment project'
which will take place from November 17-27 at the Videotron Center in Quebec City. Per the release, the seven Quebec-based teams will temporarily establish their headquarters in Quebec City to each play a total of six regular season games. Further details will be announced in the coming days.
