Injuries Stacking Up...

  • Starting the season without Seth Jarvis, the Canes have had a tough week in the healthy department.
  • On Tuesday, Rod Brind'Amour announced that captain and Conn Smythe Trophy winner Jordan Staal would miss at least a month due to a calf injury, and then that night Taylor Hall left the team's win against Washington with an upper-body injury.
  • The team recalled top prospects Bradly Nadeau and Felix Unger Sörum in the aftermath, and both are likely to play this trip.

In Net...

  • With three full days of rest on their side, the Canes have the option to go with either Brandon Bussi or Pyotr Kochetkov today.
  • Kochetkov's surface numbers look better through four starts, notably touting zero losses. However, with a game against a struggling Calgary team on deck tomorrow, the team will be tactical in how they deploy the two.
  • Bussi has won his last two starts, coming against Montreal and Chicago last week.

On The Other Side...

  • After a three-game win streak earlier this month, the Jets have gone 1-1-1 in their last trio of outings.
  • Most recently suffering an overtime loss in Chicago on Thursday, Winnipeg has scored 21 and allowed 21 goals this season.
  • Their power play has been one of their highlights, clicking at a 31.6% success rate (4th, NHL). Their penalty kill has been strong as well, entering today's play seventh among all teams (88.2%).
  • Star goaltender Connor Hellebuyck remains suspended by the team, waiting to see if his trade request will be met.
