Maybe the Oilers are just one of those teams for the Golden Knights?
One of those teams Vegas has trouble defeating, of course.
Darnell Nurse's goal 53 seconds into overtime lifted the Oilers to a 3-2 win, giving Edmonton a 2-0 edge in the season series.
The Oilers defeated the Golden Knights, 8-2, in Edmonton in November. Edmonton is now the only team in the league to have beaten Vegas twice.
With the loss, the Golden Knights drop to 29-10-3, but gain another point in the standings. With 61 points, Vegas leads the Western Conference.
Here are three takeaways from tonight's game.

1. Power Play Woes

The difference in tonight's game was obvious for the Golden Knights: 0-for-6 on the power play, when a single goal with the man advantage would've delivered Vegas a victory before overtime.
In assessing the breakdowns that led to his team's power play being shut out, Gerard Gallant said there may have been a bit of rust following the team's six-day break for its bye week.
"We weren't sharp," Gallant said. "We didn't do the right things. We didn't play our typical game. We still played OK. We weren't as sharp as we could have been."
2. Didn't Finish Them Off
Despite the Golden Knights' difficulties on the power play, a William Karlsson goal with seven seconds remaining in the second period still had Vegas in front heading into the third period.

Karlsson's goal was his 23rd of the season, moving him into sole possession of fifth place in the NHL in goals.
Although the lead didn't feel quite sturdy, the Golden Knights still led entering the third period in a league where the team that's ahead after 40 minutes wins more than 90 percent of the time. So, the chance to win was there, despite an imperfect effort.
But rather than burying Edmonton when it had a chance, Vegas was outskated early in the third period and surrendered the lead 3:29 into the session.
At this point, a few strong shifts at the start of the third period could've set the tone for the rest of the game. But Vegas didn't deliver. It happens sometimes.
The Golden Knights get one point in the standings instead.
3. The VGK's Top Line Flew

If there was any positive for Vegas tonight, it was the play of the team's top line. In addition to Karlsson's goal that gave the Golden Knights a 2-1 lead, Reilly Smith also scored his 12th of the season.
The trio of Smith (goal), Karlsson (goal) and Jonathan Marchessault (assist on Karlsson's goal) all registered points tonight.
But nobody else on the team did.
It's often said that a team's best players have to be its best player for it to win. And Vegas' were tonight.
Heading into a four-game road trip that starts on Tuesday in Nashville, Vegas will need more contributions from the rest of its lineup.
