Two timely goals from Jonathan Marchessault and Alex Tuch ignited a third-period comeback for the Vegas Golden Knights as they knocked off the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday night at T-Mobile Arena. Vegas improved to 5-0-0 against Chicago all-time.
HOW IT WENT DOWN
Reilly Smith opened up the scoring for Vegas with a power-play goal at 1:28, ending an eight-game drought and giving him a total of five goals this season. His was shortly followed by Deryk Engelland's first goal of the season, with assists from Smith and William Karlsson. Jonathan Toews put Chicago on the board four minutes into the second period and Dylan Strome tied it up 2-2 at 16:15. A goal by Artem Anisimov gave Chicago a short-lived lead that was ended by two quick goals from Jonathan Marchessault and Alex Tuch just 12 seconds apart. Marc-Andre Fleury made seven saves in the third period as Vegas held on for its second win in a row.
TURNING POINT
After trailing 3-2 in the middle of the third, Marchessault shifted the momentum in the Golden Knights favor and tied the game with a wicked wrist shot from the left wing. Twelve seconds later, Tuch scored the game-winner on a strong effort in front of the net. Chicago challenged the goal, but Tuch's goal stood to give Vegas the 4-3 win.
