Joel Hanley on being picked up off waivers from Dallas:

“It's been pretty crazy. Just all new experiences for me. Kind of a whirlwind of emotions and everything, but it's great to be here and just really excited to get going.”

On if he knows anyone in the locker-room:

“I know a few games from playing in the summer, and Coleman's from Dallas, so I skated with him a little bit, too. It's exciting to (meet) all new faces and new names, so it's been great so far.”

On playing his first game and scoring his first regular-season goal AGAINST the Flames:

“That's crazy. First game, that seems like so long ago. I was just a young kid and kind of taking everything in. The first goal was a lucky bounce. I think I just shot it from the point and it went in. Those are big moments in my career and it's funny that it came against Calgary.”

"It's exciting to (meet) all new faces"

Mikael Backlund on starting a crucial three-game road trip in Tampa:

“We've been playing very well lately and it was a tough loss (Monday vs. Seattle). Really bad start and then we got better as the game went along, but it wasn't good enough. (It's nice) to come here two days before and get used to the eastern time and a little hotter weather, a little different climate. It's good to change up the scenery and we've been really good on the road this year, so I think it will be good for our team.”

On the ‘noise’ of trade deadline week:

“We all know what's happening, what's going on, what's expected. We'll focus on the game tomorrow and then the day's here and after that, it will be good. After that, we'll know who's going to be here the rest of the year and we can just focus on that. It's not an issue in the room here. Guys are aware it's happening and things might happen... We're all pros and are just enjoying on being here, taking it day by day.”

"When we're playing well, we're playing as a team"

Head Coach Ryan Huska on what Hanley brings to the team:

“From it looks like, he moves really well - and from what we know, he's a competitive guy. He was one of those guys in Dallas that was the ultimate team player and those traits that he brings to the table will be very good for our team.”

On Hanley adding to the culture:

“You want good people, that's the first thing; good people that you feel will fit in with what you're trying to do. He seems that way. I got a text from one of their players saying he's one of the best guys you're getting. And all the reports that we're getting are saying the same thing. So, we're excited to have him and I know he's excited to be here.”

On Matt Coronato skating with Jonathan Huberdeau and Yegor Sharangovich at practice:

“Matty's a shooter and he's an offensive guy, and we've talked an awful lot about players like that. I think you want to put them in positions to be successful and you can see some of their strengths. The way Jonathan has been playing lately - seeing the game, seeing some of his options well now - we feel like if Matty's the option we go there tomorrow, we feel like he's a guy who can finish or can good opportunities to shoot the puck.”

On Connor Zary:

“He's still day-to-day. He won't be an option for us tomorrow. ... No, he did not (make the trip).”

"We're excited to have him"
