Getzlaf became the 92nd player in NHL history to reach the 1,000 point milestone and the 39th player to do so all with the same club. Of the 29 retired players to record their first 1,000 points with a single franchise, 26 have been elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame.
Terry extended his streak to 15 games with a first period assist, matching Getzlaf for the third longest run in club history and keeping pace with Connor McDavid for the longest in the NHL this season. The only Ducks with longer scoring streaks than Terry are Teemu Selanne (17 games in 1999) and Corey Perry (19, 2009). Terry leads the Ducks in scoring (11-10=21) and goals.

Getzlaf wasted little time adding yet another milestone to his long list of career accomplishments, drawing the primary assist on the game's opening goal. Getzlaf took a pass on right wing from Terry as the Ducks attempted to break the puck out of their defensive zone, before spotting Fowler sprinting ahead on right wing. Fowler let Getzlaf's pass bank off the boards, meeting it at full stride just above the top of the circles and firing low slapshot through Capitals netminder Vitek Vanecek to put the Ducks ahead early.
