First Period
0:00 -Today's lineup for Anaheim:

And today's captains:

Brayden Peters will start in goal for the Ducks. A training camp invite, Peters has spent the last three seasons with the Calgary Hitmen (WHL), posting a .906 SV% in 47 games last year.
Arizona's lineup, featuring two former first-round picks, Connor Geekie and Dylan Guenther, skating together on the second forward line:

Starting for Anaheim:
Regenda - King - Pastujov
Mintyukov - Warren
And we're underway from the Orange Rink at Sharks Ice...
1:00 - Teams trade chances from the slot in the game's first minute, with Pastujov getting Anaheim's bid after a neutral zone feed from Ben King. Both netminders, Peters and Arizona's David Tendeck, stand tall though.
1:45- A few new faces in Anaheim's lineup today, including 2022 fifth-round pick Connor Hvidston and camp invite Julian Beland skating with Blake McLaughlin on the fourth line. Defensemen Charles Cote and Luka Profaca are in as well, paired together on the backend.
4:25 - Cote with a good look from the blue line after a nifty move along the wall by Jacob Perreault, but no traffic in front of the net so it's an easy glove save for Tendeck. Cote is one of the biggest and youngest players on the ice - a 2004 birth year who stands at 6-6.
5:47 - Another quality scoring chance for the Ducks, this time in transition as Beland carried the puck up left wing before finding Luneau trailing the play, but Tedneck makes another glove save to keep it scoreless.
9:27 - Arizona gets the game's first power play as Luka Profaca is penalized for tripping after the Coyotes had pinned the Ducks deep in their defensive zone.
11:27 - Ducks erase the penalty and again get an opportunity in transition, with Cote scooting up right wing following a Coyotes turnover and ringing a shot off Tendeck's mask.
12:35 - Anaheim with a four-on-two rush but one too many passes in tight and the chance ends without a shot on goal.
18:05 - Best save of the period for Peters as he flashes the left pad to deny a high-slot bid by Coyotes defenseman Lleyton Moore.
18:50 - Ducks get their first chance on the power play as Sean Tschigerl is tripped up by Cole Cormier.

19:49 - 1-0 Ducks.Brayden Tracey gives the Ducks the lead, cutting his way to the slot with a hesitation move and beating Tendeck over the glove to give Anaheim the lead just before the first intermission. Pavel Mintyukov and Perreault draw the assists.

20:00 - Ducks take the lead to the locker room courtesy of Tracey's power-play tally. Coyotes on top in the shot battle, 11-8.
Second Period
0:00- We're back for the middle frame from Sharks Ice, Ducks ahead 1-0 and looking to replicate their second-period success from a night ago.

2:16 - Massive hit by Logan Downhaniuk on Perreault, whose helmet went flying, in the neutral zone and the Ducks immediately come to their teammate's defense, namely Nathan Gaucher who absolutely pummeled Downhaniuk in the scrum. Good to see Perreault pop right back up afterwards as he and Tracey both went by to give some props to Gaucher in the penalty box.
After a lengthy discussion to sort the penalties out, neither side will get a power-play. We'll stay at five-on-five as both Gaucher and Downhaniuk get fighting majors.
4:45 - After a couple of nice stops by Peters, a post-whistle scrum leads to matching minors and some 4-on-4 action.
5:32 - Peters with a sprawling save to his left, but Perreault is flagged for holding on an aggressive forecheck. Ducks will need to kill over a minute of 4-on-3 action.
6:26 - Tyson Hinds gets behind the Arizona defense for a shorthanded breakaway, but the big defenseman fires his wrist shot just wide of the net. Teams now skating 5-on-4.
7:32 - Ducks kill it off and get back to 5-on-5. Noah Warren with a great penalty killing shift, helping clear the front of the net for Peters to get a clean look at a point shot.
9:40 - Brave, selfless play by Colin Thiesen as he lays out in front of Cote's bid from the left faceoff circle and pays the price. He hobbles off to the bench and is greeted with a bunch of high-fives from his teammates.
9:56 - Ducks to the power play as Guenther is guilty of hooking Jacob Perreault.
Both teams making a goaltending change halfway through regulation here. Francesco Lapenna in net for Anaheim while Dereck Baribeau takes over for Arizona.
12:40 - Coyotes tie it, 1-1.Baribeau makes a spectacular save at one end and the 'Yotes tie it on the other. Connor Geekie, Arizona's second first-round selection in this summer's draft, beats Lapenna from the right circle and we're all square just past the midway point of the second.
14:31 - Warren introduces himself to Julian Lutz in the neutral zone with a thundering hit along the wall, which started a transition chance for the Ducks. Anaheim will get a power play as Tschigerl was dragged down trying to get to the rebound loose in the Arizona crease.
16:31 - Ducks with a couple of good looks, but come up empty on the man-advantage. Hinds recovered well after a bouncing puck at the blue line led to a partial breakaway for Jack McBain, hustling back to force the Coyotes forward to send his bid wide of the net.
17:21 - Coyotes to the power play. Pastujov sits for slashing.
19:00- Anaheim erases the penalty, in part thanks to another good shift from Warren, who calmly absorbed a hit on the forecheck from Geekie before clearing the zone. Far from easy to knock Anaheim's #47 off the puck.
20:00 - Even at one after 40 minutes of play as both teams exchange some pleasantries while heading off the ice. McTavish and Perreault in the middle of it for Anaheim. Should make for a fun third period from Sharks Ice.

Third Period
0:00 - And we're off for the third, even at one.
5:35 - After a few minutes of back-and-forth action with few scoring chances, Arizona will get a big power-play opportunity as Perreault is sent to the box for roughing. Anaheim's penalty kill will be tested again.
7:35 - Ducks get the big kill and now a power-play chance of their own as an odd-man rush forces the 'Yotes into a slashing penalty.

10:00 - Arizona matches Anaheim with a big kill. We're back to 5-on-5 heading down the stretch of regulation here.
12:43 - Warren gets a point shot through traffic after Tschigerl worked a loose puck free on the forecheck, but Baribeau gets to the top of his crease and swallows it up without a rebound.
13:48 - Luneau weaves through the Arizona defense on an end-to-end rush but his centering pass doesn't find a target as his linemates were changing behind the play. Leads to an Arizona odd-man rush and a Ducks hooking penalty. Another big kill for Anaheim here.

14:55 - 2-1 Coyotes.Arizona finally makes the Ducks pay for the parade to the penalty box. Geekie finds Ben McCartney with a shot-pass in the low slot and McCartney redirects it over Lapenna's shoulder. Ducks with their backs against the wall now, trailing by a goal with five minutes to play.
17:00 - Coyotes doing their best to play keep-away, getting the puck deep and clogging the middle of the ice. The Ducks haven't been able to get set up in the offensive zone to chase that tying goal.
18:11 - Lapenna comes up with a big stop on Milos Keleman, who chased down a clearing attempt and got a shot off. Ducks running out of race track late in the third.
19:41 - Ducks will get a late power play after a reckless hit from behind by Coyotes forward Manix Landry. Ducks players again jump to their teammates' aid, but the only penalty will be a minor against Landry. Anaheim will have 20 seconds of 6-on-4 play to net the tying goal. McTavish, Perreault, Tracey, Lopina, King and Luneau on for Anaheim.
20:00- Perreault narrowly misses the net in the dying seconds and the Coyotes take it 2-1. Anaheim's first regulation loss at the Rookie Faceoff since 2015.
