OTTAWA, Ont. -In the Devils first game back from the All-Star break, New Jersey fell to the Senators 4-1, in Ottawa. The loss extends New Jersey's losing skid to seven straight games, with the last Devils win coming on Jan. 22 against the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Devils took a 1-0 lead when Nico Hischier deflected in Jesper Bratt's shot on the power play. Damon Severson also picked up an assist on the goal. The Senators tied the game up late in the first period, and went on to score two goals in nine seconds to take a 3-1 lead. In the final 10 minutes of the game, the Senators scored their final goal of the contest, winning with a 4-1 score.
"(We) got off to a great start, scored on a power play goal, didn't give up a lot for 40 minutes. But we left some chances out there and I've said this before, we have to score more than one goal," said Devils head coach Lindy Ruff "We had some good chances we didn't capitialize on and the puck was on the right guy's stick. But again it has to go in the back of the net."
