During Thursday's IIHF Men's World Championship quarterfinal action, Switzerland fell 3-1 to Germany and was knocked out of this year's tournament.

Devils defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler scored his second goal of the tournament to tie the game in the opening minute of the second period. Siegenthaler's shot beat Germany's goaltender high on the glove side and was the lone goal for the Swiss. The Devils defenseman played 19:48 and scored on one of his two shots.

Siegenthaler's performance earned him Player of the Game for the quarterfinals. He finishes the tournament with two goals over five games.

Nico Hischier returned to game action after he was scratched in Switzerland's final game of the preliminary round. He played 23:29 and had five shots on goal. Hischier finishes the tournament with one goal and two assists for three points through four games.

Germany will advance to the semifinals while Switzerland's tournament ends with the quarterfinal loss.
