After 10 long months, it looks like New Jersey Devils will finally be getting back on the ice.
The League and Players Association reached a tentative plan for a 56-game 2020-21 season, which would begin on January 13, 2021, as per an article on NHL.com.
The agreement is pending a vote by the NHL Board of Governors and the NHLPA. The Devils last played a game on March 10, 2020.
"We are focused on starting at some point hopefully in mid-January," NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said Wednesday. "... It is clear that we will not be playing an 82-game schedule for the regular season, which we normally do, but we're going to try and play as many games as possible."
The league is set to realign the teams for this season, which will include all all-Canadian division with the seven Canadian teams. The NHL will operate within government regulations in both the United States and Canada, which includes the restrictions of cross-border travel between Canada and the US.
