"New Jersey brings a lot of different things that people usually don't see when they come and visit," said Brodeur. "The passion of the fans is one thing. We're probably not the biggest fanbase, but I think it's the most loyal fanbase and it's growing. And obviously the area, it's a fun place to live, easy to travel in and out to experience different opportunities around the northeast, and you being from Toronto, it will be a lot easier to get your buddies back in New Jersey to hang out and have a lot of places to do this. Also, it's the banners, it's the history we created throughout my tenure here in New Jersey and before since 1982, and obviously with the changes of ownership about six years ago that are putting this team back where it's supposed to be."
Subban is already endearing himself to the local fanbase. In the pre-event media availability he mentioned how even though everyone talks about the proximity to New York and how great New York city is, he's proud to play for Jersey.
