Marian Studenic was drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the fifth round, 143rd overall, of the 2017 NHL Draft.

On the night of the event, Studenic was too nervous to watch, so his parents found an internet feed of the draft and tuned in from the comfort of their home in Slovakia. When they started screaming, he knew it had happened.

Studenic, nicknamed Studs, began his career in his homeland of Slovakia and attended a few youth tournaments in North America. In 2016, he made the jump to the Ontario Hockey League, playing with the Hamilton Bulldogs. There, he stayed with a billet family, who provided his housing and food - a family he still stays in touch with to this day.
During the 2017-18 regular season in Hamilton, Studenic posted 20 goals and 28 assists for 48 points in 62 games. After the Bulldogs' first-round victory in the playoffs that year, Studenic signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the New Jersey Devils.

Hamilton went on to capture the OHL Championship, where Studenic tallied 15 points in 21 playoff games. He said it was the loudest building ever with fireworks after they won in Game 6 at home over Sault Ste. Marie, 5-4.

In the round robin of the Memorial Cup, Studenic tallied two goals in three games, but the Bulldogs were knocked out in the semifinal round.

His first taste of professional hockey came last summer during the preseason with New Jersey. He hit the ice with players he grew up watching.

Assigned to Binghamton at the beginning of the 2018-19 season, Studenic scored his first pro goal in the very first period of the home opener. Binghamton went on to win 7-5 over the defending Calder Cup Champion, Toronto Marlies.

His second professional goal came in his second game of the season against the New York Rangers affiliate, Hartford Wolf Pack.

To celebrate the Devils early success, Studenic and forward Egor Sharangovich decided to show off their muscles on Halloween. Studenic went as Duffman from The Simpsons and Sharangovich arrived as Aquaman.

He's also had some other big moments recently, including an overtime winner on the road in Cleveland (Columbus Blue Jackets affiliate) for a road weekend sweep.

Marian's first-ever Instagram post was a photo of Pavel Datsyuk's locker in Detroit during the Five Nations Tournament. Red Wings forward and Slovakian native, Tomas Tatar, gave a personal tour of the locker room.
