The Devils fell to 1-3-1 at Prudential Center (2-7-1 overall) against the Jets since the 2013-14 season (last win, 10/30/14, 2-1 SO). New Jersey finished 0-6 on the power play for the year against Winnipeg (0-2, Nov. 18; 0-4, Mar. 8). It was only the fourth time this season that the Devils have closed out a season-series without scoring a power play goal.
Taylor Hall's point-streak was snapped when he was held of the scoresheet for the first time in the 2018 calendar year. Hall recorded points in 26 consecutive games (18G-20A-38PTS), dating back to Jan. 2 at STL. He missed three games, Jan. 22-25, due to an injury (right hand/thumb).
Sami Vatanen also had his four-game point streak (1G-4A) snapped vs. WPG, but has 13 points (1G-12A) in his last 14 games played. Additionally, Vatanen led all Devils with 27:46 of ice time, which was seven seconds short of his season-high (2/13 at Philadelphia).
Kyle Palmieri opened the scoring for the Devils in the second period and now has eight points in his last eight games (4G-4A-8PTS, Feb. 20-Mar. 8).
Nico Hischier notched his 14th goal of the season, and his ninth career multi-point game (1G-1A). It was Hischier's first multi-point game since Feb. 15. vs. CAR.
Brian Gibbons returned to the Devils lineup after missing 22 games (Jan. 22-Mar. 6) due to a broken right thumb and had one shot on net, in 13:52 TOI.
Cory Schneider stopped 21 out of 24 shots in the loss.
TONIGHT vs NASHVILLE PREDATORS
The Devils begin a six-game road trip when they take on the Nashville Predators in the two clubs second, and final, matchup. In their first meeting, Nashville defeated New Jersey 3-0. It was the fifth and last time that the Devils were shutout in the 2017-18 regular season.
Devils goaltender Ken Appleby made the first start of his NHL career against the Predators, stopping 24 of 27 shots. Forward Kevin Rooney also made his NHL season-debut, recording three shots in 11:46 of action.
P.K. Subban, Viktor Arvidsson and Mattias Ekholm each had 2PTS (1G-1A), in their 3-0 victory on Jan. 25th.
New Jersey is 2-1-1 at Bridgestone Arena since the 2013-14 season. The last time the Devils failed to pick up a point against Nashville was in the 2010-11 season (0-1-0). The two teams did not meet in the 2012-13 season.
Taylor Hall leads all Devils with 17PTS (7G-10A) in 18 games against the Predators, while Nashville forward Scott Hartnell has 25PTS (12G-13A) in 61GP against New Jersey.
Devils goaltender Cory Schneider is 1-2-1 with a 3.47 GAA, while Keith Kinkaid is 2-1-0 with a 2.94 GAA in their careers against the Predators.
