The Devils matched their season-high, fourth-consecutive loss in a row, 0-4-0 (Feb. 6-11), after losing, 3-5 L, against Boston on Sunday. They lost four straight on one other occasion this season, 0-4-0 from Jan. 20-25. New Jersey was swept, 0-2-1, by the Bruins in their 2017-18 season-series and have not defeated their Atlantic Division opponent since Jan. 2, 2017 (3-0 W) at TD Garden.

Center Travis Zajac was awarded a penalty shot at 6:06 of the first period while New Jersey was shorthanded (P. Bergeron - holding the stick). Zajac was denied by Bruins' netminder Anton Khudobin. It was the second-time this season that the club was awarded a penalty shot while shorthanded (Oct. 28 vs. ARI; Brian Gbbonsvs. L. Domingue; Goal).
Miles Wood scored on a breakaway to tie the game at 1-1 in the first period. It was the Boston College alumnus' 15th of the season and his first point since Dec. 30 at BUF. The Bruin's took to the lead, 2-1, with just three seconds remaining in the opening period. The referee confirmed his original call that B's forward Tim Schaller's shot did completely cross the goal line with the NHL Situation Room.
Taylor Hall, led New Jersey's best period, scoring his 21st goal of the season. Hall has a personal 14-game, points-streak, 9G-11A-20PTS from Jan. 2-Feb. 11. Hall added a primary assist on Kyle Palmieri's goal, that tied the game, 3-3, going into the third period. Hall has 17 multi-point games in 2017-18.
Palmieri's goal was his 13th of the season and has scored one goal in back-to-back games. The Devils are 2-3-4 when the score is tied after two periods this season.
Blake Coleman, Nico Hischier, and Sami Vatanen had one assist (1PT) each in the contest.
Bruins' defenseman Adam McQuaid scored his first goal of the season to put Boston ahead, 4-3, mid-way through the third period. Patrice Bergeron notched an empty-net goal to seal New Jersey's fate.
Eddie Lack started his first game as a Devil and stopped 22 of 26 for the loss to improve to 1-3-0 this season. It was his first start at the NHL level since Nov. 15, 2-8 loss at DET, as a member of the Calgary Flames.
TONIGHT @ PHILADELPHIA FLYERS
Tonight marks the season-series finale and second of two games at Wells Fargo Center between the Devils and Flyers this season. New Jersey is 1-2-0 against Philadelphia entering tonight's contest (Jan. 13 @ NJD, 3-5 L; Jan. 20 at PHI, 1-3 L; Feb. 1 @ NJD, 4-3 W).
The Devils have not been on the losing-end of a season-series against the Flyers since the 2009-10 season when they finished 1-4-1 against their divisional opponent. They faced Philadelphia in the 2010 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals during the playoffs and were eliminated in five games.
Tonight the Devils will look to avoid a season-long, fifth consecutive loss. The club has lost their last four games in regulation time, 0-4-0, from Feb. 6-11. It would be the team's longest losing-streak since March 2-11, 2017, when they went 0-7-0.
New Jersey's Taylor Hall leads all Devils in scoring vs. PHI with 4A (4PTS) while Flyers' captain Claude Giroux (1G-3A) and Jakub Voracek (4A) each have 4PTS to lead Philadelphia.
Devils' goaltender Keith Kinkaid is 5-1-0 (2.11 GAA, .926 sv%, 1 ShO) against PHI in his career. Eddie Lack is 2-1-3 (3.23 GAA, .896 sv.%) in six career games against the Flyers.
