MONTREAL - The Canadiens edged the Lightning 3-2 in overtime on Monday night at the Bell Centre.

Montreal now trails the series 3-1.
Interim head coach Dominique Ducharme made several significant lineup changes heading into the contest.
The healthy scratches included center Jesperi Kotkaniemi, and defensemen Erik Gustafsson and Jon Merrill.
Jake Evans returned to the lineup, along with Alexander Romanov and Brett Kulak.
Ducharme tinkered with his lines as well.

The stage couldn't have been bigger as Montreal was looking to stay alive.
With so much on the line, the Habs had a little extra pep in their step as they hit the ice for warmups.

Romanov, in particular, was stoked to make his Stanley Cup Final debut.
It was the 21-year-old Russian's first taste of postseason action since June 14, when the Canadiens opened the Semifinals series against Vegas.

Shortly before puck drop, the team paid tribute to Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Matiss Kivlenieks, who passed away on Sunday night in Michigan.
The 24-year-old Latvian died of chest trauma from a fireworks mortar blast.

Despite being badly outshot for the better part of the opening frame, the Canadiens struck first.
Right-winger Josh Anderson capped a three-way passing play with his fourth goal of the playoffs at the 15:39 mark of the period.
Full credit to center Nick Suzuki for an outstanding backhand dish leading to the tally on goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy.

Rookie Cole Caufield collected the secondary helper on the snipe.
Anderson snapped a six-game goal drought on the sequence.
Suzuki, meanwhile, extended his point streak to three consecutive games.
That's the way things stood after 20 minutes. Tampa Bay held a 12-5 advantage in shots at the break.
Winger Barclay Goodrow tied things up 1-1 for the Lightning with 2:40 left in the second period, beating a helpless Carey Price for his second goal of the playoffs.
Goodrow was the beneficiary of a perfect feed from defenseman Ryan McDonagh, which led to the easy tally.

Center Blake Coleman also assisted on the goal.
That's the way things stood after 40 minutes. Tampa Bay was still outshooting Montreal by a 20-14 margin.
The Canadiens answered back at the 8:48 mark of the third period courtesy of Romanov's first career postseason goal, which just happened to be his first career postseason point, too.
The young blueliner beat Vasilevskiy with a point shot through traffic to put Ducharme's contingent up 2-1.

Evans collected the lone assist on the play.
The Lightning responded exactly five minutes later courtesy of winger Pat Maroon's second goal of the playoffs.
Maroon was the recipient of a tape-to-tape feed from winger Mathieu Joseph before finding the back of the net.

Center Tyler Johnson also assisted on the goal.
It was 2-2 after 60 minutes, so overtime was required. Tampa Bay was outshooting Montreal by a 30-19 margin.
Anderson was the hero in the extra frame, banging a loose puck past Vasilevskiy for his second goal of the night at the 3:57 mark.

Caufield collected his second assist of the game.
Price made 32 saves in the win.
Game 5 of the series will be played on Wednesday night at AMALIE Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET.
