The veteran defenseman hasn't played since Dec. 3 in Edmonton

MONTREAL -- Following Saturday night's game, the Canadiens placed defenseman David Savard on injured reserve retroactively to Dec. 4.

Savard has missed the last seven games with an upper-body injury.
His last appearance came on Dec. 3 against the Oilers in Edmonton.
Savard has eight points (1 goal, 7 assists) in 24 games this season.
