LAS VEGAS - Jeremy Swayman will start in goal as the Bruins make the fifth stop on their season-long six-game road trip on Thursday night for a tilt with the Golden Knights. Boston, making its first visit to T-Mobile Arena since Oct. 8, 2019, will be aiming to bounce back after its last-minute loss to the Ducks on Tuesday in Anaheim.

"After the way we ended in Anaheim the other night, I don't think we can get complacent, to be honest with you, "said Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy. "Things were going pretty well for us. I think we had earned our points before that and battled back the other night. I think our guys will probably still have a bit of that taste in their mouth that they let points get away.
"I think we'll be fine in that regard, we've just got to know what we're up against in a very good hockey club and make sure we get to our game quicker than they get to theirs, find our legs early coming off a day off [on Wednesday] and make sure we're ready to go.
"Six o'clock start [local time in Vegas] as well, a little bit early. All those things we've got be focused on."

Haula Finds a Home

Erik Haula has fond memories here in Las Vegas. The veteran forward was part of the franchise's inaugural season in 2017-18, putting up a career-high 29 goals and 55 points during a magical campaign that concluded in the Stanley Cup Finial.
But the Finland native, who was beset by a major knee injury the following season, has yet to regain that level of offensive output.
"Ever since then, I've been striving to do that. I haven't gotten there," said Haula. "But that year was obviously special and things clicked and the puck was going in."
Lately, however, things have been clicking pretty well for the 30-year-old, who has found a home as the Bruins' second-line center between Taylor Hall and David Pastrnak. Haula, who notched two goals - including the 100th of his career - on Monday night in Los Angeles, is now up to 22 points (7 goals, 15 assists) in 51 games this season.
"I think it's just the sign of a good team," said Haula. "We know that we have a lot of good players, a lot of skill and just versatility in our lineup. Sometimes it can take time to find those combinations. I feel like we have found something here right now and we've had some success. It's good to see and I think it's good for individuals as well to get into one line and create that chemistry. It's important. Hopefully we can keep that going, hopefully we can keep having success."
Haula, acknowledging he might not have the puck as much as playmakers like Hall and Pastrnak in his current role, has embraced that his main responsibilities are to remain responsible defensively and act as a facilitator both of the puck and communication.
"Those guys will try to make plays and create," said Haula. "For me, I might not have the puck as much as those guys do, just try to create space, get open when it's there and things will just come to you. That's the thing. When you give those guys time and space and are able to do that, they make good plays. That's the emphasis and what I try to do. I'm not trying to be a puck hog by any means. Just doing my job."

Lazar Nearing Return

After missing the last three games with an upper-body injury, Curtis Lazar re-joined his teammates for morning skate on Thursday. The forward will not play against the Golden Knights but could return to the lineup for the road trip finale in Columbus on Saturday.
"He needs to have contact today, get a little work in. He won't be in tonight, but I think he'll be cleared after today's practice," said Cassidy.
Jesper Froden will remain in Lazar's spot as the fourth-line right wing alongside Tomas Nosek and Nick Foligno.

Opposing View

The Golden Knights are coming off a 3-1 win over San Jose on Tuesday night to snap a two-game losing skid behind a pair of goals from former Bruins winger Reilly Smith. Vegas, which won the first meeting between these teams, 4-1, on Dec. 14 at TD Garden, is third in the Pacific Division with 64 points, one ahead of Edmonton.
Vegas will have a different look than previous matchups against the B's with the addition of Jack Eichel, who made his debut with the Golden Knights on Feb. 16. The Chelmsford, Mass., native was traded to Vegas from Buffalo in November. He has a goal and three assists in six games.
Chandler Stephenson paces Vegas with 41 points (14 goals, 27 assists) in 51 games, while Jonathan Marchessault leads the way with 21 goals. Smith has 16 goals and 36 points in 52 games to rank third in team scoring. Shea Theodore (8-27-35) and Alex Pietrangelo (7-21-28) anchor the back end.
Vegas is without top centerman Mark Stone, who landed on long-term injured reserve last month with a back injury.
