A Point on the Road

The Avalanche lost 3-2 to the San Jose Sharks in overtime at SAP Center at San Jose on Saturday. Martin Necas and Nathan MacKinnon scored for Colorado while Artturi Lehkonen posted the 300th point of his NHL career.

Taylor Makar made his NHL debut for the Avalanche, making he and Cale Makar the first set of brothers to suit up in the same game for the Avalanche/Nordiques franchise since Anton and Peter Stastny on April 2, 1989.

"First game ever playing with my brother," Taylor Makar said. "So that's awesome. And all the guys here supported me and all the staff it was really nice and made feel really welcome."

"It's special," Cale Makar said. "Obviously never played with him in my life and vice versa so [it was a] very cool moment to be able to share that with family."

How It Happened

For the second time in as many days, Necas opened the scoring in the game's first minute when he scored his ninth goal of the season 30 seconds into the game via a wrist shot from the left slot.

Macklin Celebrini tied the game at 18:21 of the first period with a wrist shot from the high slot.

The Sharks took a 2-1 lead when Philipp Kurashev scored at 4:07 of the second period with a breakaway goal.

The Avs tied the game when MacKinnon became the first player to reach 10 goals this season at 9:10 of the third period scored by cleaning up a loose puck in the crease after the net was dislodged. The goal was originally waved off by the referee, but was awarded to the Avs after review.

Kurashev scored the game-winning goal for the Sharks at 1:48 of overtime via a left-circle shot.
