COGALINO

Colorado Avalanche veteran forward Andrew Cogliano will not play in Game 7 against the Seattle Kraken in the First Round of the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs and is out indefinitely after suffering a C5 vertebra fracture from Game 6.

Cogliano sustained the neck fracture in the second period after a reckless hit-from-behind by Seattle winger Jordan Eberle. On the aggressive hit, Eberle was only administered a two-minute minor penalty and did not receive any supplemental discipline despite Colorado's Cale Makar being suspended for Game 5 due to a hit he laid against Kraken forward Jared McCann in Game 4.
There is no timeline on when Cogliano could return, but Colorado Avalanche Head Coach Jared Bednar confirmed that Cogliano will be out for the rest of playoffs.
Cogliano, 35, is a fixture in the Avalanche's lineup, among their leadership group and on their penalty kill unit. Through 120-career playoff games, Cogliano has produced 13 goals and 22 assists.
