With no morning skate on Saturday due to the early game time, the Mammoth prepared for the game during Friday’s practice. Here’s what Utah is focused on for tomorrow’s contest.
“They’re a team who play very fast with a lot of speed,” head coach André Tourigny said of Colorado. “They generate speed off their breakout, and they want to do everything fast. They apply pressure, they’re a very good skating team. Obviously, they want to exploit the width of the ice in the neutral zone so it’s important you take the middle away, because if not, that’s how they build their speed and that’s how they spread your defense. Those are things we will focus on.”
Heading into tomorrow, Utah will step up how much they focus on their opponent for their pregame preparations. In fact, Tourigny said this is the most they have done during this preseason; however, this will help the Mammoth ramp up for the regular season.
“We will focus more on Colorado than we did the first three games, because we want to be ready for the season, and be able to make some adjustments to our opponent,” Tourigny explained. “We don’t want to start that while we’re in the season.”
Regardless, Saturday’s game is all about the Mammoth executing their game plan.
“In reality, the main focus is on us and how we play,” Tourigny continued. “…We need to have the right balance of we need to be aware of certain things our opponent does, but we need to be good at what we do.”
