About the Stars

The Stars (2-1-1) lost 4-3 in overtime to the Los Angeles Kings at American Airlines Center Thursday. The Stars were outshot 39-20 in the game but overcame 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2 deficits to get the game to overtime and pick up one point.

"[The Kings] played a good game. They came here to compete and win a game. We didn't man up and play to their level or higher," said Stars captain Jamie Benn. "I don't think we deserved to win that game and it showed on the scoreboard."

Forwards Patrick Sharp and Patrick Eaves were injured in Thursday's game. The Stars placed Sharp (concussion-like symptoms) on injured reserve Friday. Eaves is questionable for Saturday with a lower body injury.

Forward Ales Hemsky, who has not played this season due to a groin injury, likely will play Saturday. Forward Jiri Hudler will miss a third straight game due to illness.

The Stars recalled F Gemel Smith from the Texas Stars of the AHL Friday.

Saturday's game is the second of a three-game homestand for Dallas.

Injuries: RW Ales Hemsky (groin) is probable. RW Patrick Eaves (lower body) is questionable. RW Jiri Hudler (illness) is out. LW Patrick Eaves (concussion-like symptoms), C Cody Eakin (knee) and C/LW wing Mattias Janmark (knee) are on injured reserve.

About the Blue Jackets

The Blue Jackets (1-2-0) won their first game of the season Friday, defeating the Chicago Blackhawks, 3-2, in Columbus. Rookie defenseman Zach Werenski and Columbus captain Nick Foligno both had one goal and one assist in the game.

"It's huge getting that first win out of the way," Werenski said on Fox Sports Ohio. "Now we go on the road, and hopefully we can get a couple more."

Columbus defenseman Ryan Murray left Friday's game with an upper-body injury and did not return.

Friday's game came after five days off for the Blue Jackets and kicked off a stretch of five games in eight days. Saturday's game begins a four-game road trip for Columbus.

Injuries: D Ryan Murray (upper body) is questionable. G Joonas Korpisalo (groin) and RW David Clarkson (back) are out.
